Competition rules

Here are the competition rules which apply to your registration for the 72hrs The Hague film contest on the website of 72hrs.nl

By sending your registration via the registration form, you become a Participant in this competition and you agree with the following conditions. Read them well, so that you are totally familiar with the general terms and conditions that apply to your participation in this competition.

The following definitions are used in these competition rules:

Initiator: City of The Hague and Evenblij Film.

Website 72hrs.nl: the city of The Hague is owner of the website on which the contest is being promoted and thus responsible for processing the data provided by the Participants on the registration form and for the technical operation of the website.

Participant: the filmmaker who fulfils the minimum terms and conditions and who has registered via the registration form in the film contest 72hrs The Hague.

Prize winning film: the cash prize as described on the homepage of 72hrs.nl refers to a financial contribution to the development of the film talent of the winner. This will be done in line with the wishes of the winner. This may be a contribution to a certain film course, a contribution to the purchase of film equipment, editing software, etc. The Participant is not entitled to any specific rights until he/she has entered into an agreement with the Initiator to receive the prize.

1. 72hrs The Hague film contest is organised by the Initiator City of The Hague and Evenblij Film.  

2. The registration period is described in the ‘general terms and conditions and registration’ on the 72hrs.nl website. Registrations received after the date mentioned in the description will not be considered by the Initiator.

3. Registration takes place once you have completed the registration form on the 72hrs.nl website and sent it to the Initiator. The Initiator will send you confirmation that it has received your registration. At this point, you are now competing for selection for the 72hrs The Hague film contest.

4. To be permitted to take part, you must fulfil the following minimum conditions:

- a minimum age of 18;

- a proven link (living, working or studying) with The Hague or the immediate surroundings (070 area);

- available to take part in the film contest on 27, 28 and 29 June.

Participants who do not fulfil these conditions are excluded from participation.

5. To be eligible for selection, your registration must fulfil at least the following conditions:

- the registration form must have been completed in full and truthfully;

- a written motivation must be included explaining why you are the right person. If you wish to provide this motivation by means of a video message, your blog, vlog, your social media channels, add this link;

- the registration form, including motivation, must be written in Dutch or English.

Participants who do not fulfil these conditions are excluded from the selection.

6. The Initiator reserves the right to exclude you from participating in the competition and/or being selected for the competition if you do not provide correct, up to date and complete information, fail to comply with the terms and conditions, fraudulently participate in the competition or unfairly influence the competition in any way.    

7. There is room for a maximum of 30 participants. The registrations will be assessed against the terms and conditions. If there are more than 30 registrations, they will be assessed against date/time of receipt.

8. The Selected Participant will be personally notified as soon as possible after the registration (and by 21 June 2018 at the latest) via the e-mail address given by the Participant. The Selected Participant does not have an unconditional right to receive the prize related to the 72hrs The Hague film contest.

9. During the competition period, the Initiator may, according to its own insight and without prior notification, change or amend these competition rules or change, amend or cancel the competition without stating reasons and without the Initiator being liable to pay any damages resulting from participation in the competition to the Participant and/or Selected participant. Changes or amendments to the competition rules and/or the prize will be published on the 72hrs.nl website in an appropriate way.

10. The prize is participant-specific and is in the name of the Selected Participant. The prize is non-transferrable, non-exchangeable and will not be paid out in cash or for other products or services. If the Selected Participant rejects or does not accept these competition rules, he/she will not be given a contract.

11. The personal data acquired in the framework of this competition will only be used by the Initiator for the relevant competition. The personal data may be used to implement the competition, to award the prize and to send newsletters and/or e-mails as part of the 72hrs The Hague film contest.

12. The City of The Hague will handle the data provided by the Participant via the website 72hrs.nl confidentially and will not retain them for longer than necessary. At the end of the competition, it will destroy all the data acquired, including - but not exhaustively - photos, vlogs, blogs, etc. provided as part of the written motivation. When processing this data, the City of The Hague complies with its privacy statement. After digital/written permission, the City of The Hague is entitled to provide the personal data to the Initiator to send newsletters and/or e-mails as part of the competition.

13. The Initiator and city of The Hague are not liable in any way for any problems or issues resulting from using the 72hrs.nl website and/or downloading and/or uploading any components relating to the registration for the 72hrs The Hague film contest.

14. In cases not covered by these terms and conditions, a decision will be taken by the Initiator.

15. Dutch law applies to these terms and conditions.
